Basics: Hyundai is recalling 41,264 2007-2008 Entourage minivans oweing to the hood latch may corrode, making it to open while driving. The recall affects every Entourage produced between February 16, 2006, to June 30, 2008, though the fix varies depending on the state.
Recall Problem: The secondary hood latch can corrode, implying the hood may not close properly. This could make the hood to fly open while driving and thus causing an accident. Based on the states where the van is recalled, it seems to be a problem related to rust.
Injuries/Deaths: None, even as the investigation into the recall was prompted by several incidents where the hood latch malfunctioned.
The fix: Hyundai dealers will change the latch on vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.
For Entourages in other states, dealers will check, lubricate, and, if necessary, change the latch.
