What You Will Need
Rubber gaskets (if necessary)
Fuses (if necessary)
If you have to repair an RV refrigerator it can be a simple job. The RV refrigerator is configured to operate with two sources of power, electric and gas. If the RV refrigerator will only work with one source of power, then it may need minor RV refrigerator repair. And it may only take minutes to finish the task.
Using a level, check and confirm if there is balance in your refrigerator’s position – the front, the back and the sides. If it isnt leveled, make the necessary corrective action and level the refrigerator as needed. Leave the refrigerator for two hours and verify if the temperature shows progress.
If no progress is observed, confirm if there are any disturbing elements on the vents. If you see possible obstructions that block the vents, have them taken out immediately. Once again, check the refrigerator’s temperature after two hours and see if there is an improvement.
If you still notice similar manifestation, try examining the gaskets made of rubber on the doors of the unit. If you notice that they are already worn out, have them changed. Then carry out the necessary task in aligning the gasket properly. Recheck the unit’s temperature in two hours after performing this method.
Back Heat Verification
Try to verify the heat at the refrigerator’s back. If it is warm, move to the next step. If it is not, inspect the RV fuses or circuit breakers. Have the necessary fuses or circuit breakers changed if necessary. Once again, check if there is a progress on the refrigerator’s temperature after two hours. If there is no progress and its back remains cool, try to have the element inspected by a technically qualified repair person. You will be able to determine if repairs are required or possibly be replaced.
Try to check the area surrounding the refrigerator for unusual odors. If nothing strange is observed, proceed to the next step. But if you smell ammonia, it only indicates that the cooling unit is failing and it requires replacement by a qualified technician.
Check for yellow powder traces in the surrounding area of the refrigerator. If there is no powder seen, then go to the next step. If you however noted a yellow powder around, then it indicates that you have a leak in the cooling unit and it needs replacement.
If you feel that the thermostat is defective, you may have it replaced. In this predicament, technicians are well suited to perform the task making replacements. You may be able to handle simple repairs, but when it comes to highly technical matters concerning some of the important components, you will need the help of trained or specialized technicians. RV refrigerator repair may have complexities. There are simple things you can handle and those that you cannot.
